Overview

Extra credit allows workspaces to add AI credits on top of their base plan allocation. You can adjust your recurring monthly limit using predefined increments or make one-time top-ups.

This feature prevents interruptions when your team experiences spikes in AI activity. Recurring extra credits automatically replenish your balance each month and are billed on a dedicated invoice separate from your base subscription.

Prerequisites

Before configuring extra credits, ensure you meet the following requirements:

  • An Admin or Owner role in your Swiftask workspace.

  • An active paid plan (Pro, Team Starter, Team Growth, or Enterprise/Custom).

  • A valid payment card configured in your billing settings.

Note: Extra credits cannot be added on Free or Free Trial plans, or when a subscription cancellation is pending.

Step-by-step guide

Adding or adjusting recurring extra credits

  1. Click the Settings gear icon in the left sidebar to open Workspace administration.

  2. Navigate to Subscription (or click Manage subscription).

  3. Click the Extras tab at the top of the page.

  4. In the Extra credits card, click Add extra credits.

  1. In the Add extra credits modal, review your default Payment method. Click Manage payment method if you wish to select or register a different card dedicated to extra credits.

  2. Under Extra Credits, move the slider to choose your desired monthly amount (+5M, +10M, +25M, +50M, +100M, +250M, +500M, or +1B).

  3. Review the monthly cost update displayed in the summary banner.

  4. Click Confirm to apply your changes.

Expected result: The extra credits are immediately added to your workspace pool. A dedicated recurring monthly invoice will be billed to your selected payment method.

Reducing or cancelling recurring extra credits

  1. Open Manage subscription and click the Extras tab.

  2. In the Extra credits card, click the edit or modification option.

  3. Move the slider to a lower value, or drag it back to +0 to stop all recurring extra credit charges.

  4. Click Confirm.

Expected result: Decreases or cancellations take effect at the start of the next billing cycle. Any extra credits already paid for remain in your balance until consumed.

Purchasing one-time extra credits

  1. Navigate to Manage subscription and click the Billing tab.

  2. Locate the credit purchase section.

  3. Select the desired credit quantity (from 5M to 1B credits).

  4. Review the total price and confirm the transaction.

Expected result: The one-time credits are immediately credited to your balance and appear in your Credit purchase history table.

Practical use cases

Handling seasonal workload surges
A marketing team running end-of-quarter campaigns requires extra capacity for copy generation and document parsing. The admin moves the slider to +50M for the campaign period, then returns it to +0 once the peak demand passes.

Separating departmental AI expenses
An enterprise workspace wants variable AI usage billed to a specific operational budget. The admin selects a secondary corporate card via Manage payment method in the modal, keeping extra credit invoices distinct from the core platform subscription.

Preventing automated agent halts
A support department with high-volume automated customer service agents cannot risk reaching credit exhaustion. Configuring recurring extra credits guarantees continuous 24/7 agent operations without manual intervention.

Tips & best practices

  • Analyze usage before scaling: Check your consumption in the AI Credits / month progress bar on the Overview tab and review historical trends in the Dashboard before increasing your tier.

  • Carryover balance: Unlike standard monthly plan credits which reset each cycle, purchased extra credits do not expire and carry over.

  • Set member limits: Verify that individual member monthly limits under Identity → Members allow team members to access the expanded workspace credit pool.

  • Dedicated accounting: Use the separate monthly invoice for extra credits to allocate usage costs directly to specific client or project cost centers.

Troubleshooting

"Add extra credits" button is disabled or unavailable

  • Cause: The workspace is currently on a Free or Free Trial plan, or the base subscription has been scheduled for cancellation.

  • Fix: Upgrade to a paid plan or click Reactivate subscription in the Settings tab before modifying extras.

Payment declined when adding extra credits

  • Cause: The selected credit card is expired, lacks sufficient funds, or failed 3D Secure verification.

  • Fix: Click Manage payment method in the Add extra credits modal to add and select a valid payment card.

Members receive "You don't have enough credits" despite available extra credits

  • Cause: The workspace pool has remaining credits, but the individual member has reached their personal monthly quota.

  • Fix: Go to Identity → Members, click the member's entry, and increase their Monthly limit (Credits).
