Managing automatic updates on desktop

Overview

The Swiftask desktop app includes background automatic updates. It silently checks for new versions, downloads improvements in the background, and applies them when you restart the application.
Automatic updates ensure that real-time transcription models, security patches, and agent integrations stay up to date without interrupting your work.

Prerequisites

To receive automatic desktop updates, you need:

  • An active installation of the Swiftask desktop app.

  • An uninterrupted internet connection.

  • Standard system permissions that allow the application to write updates to its install directory.

Step-by-step guide

1. Automatic background checks

  1. Whenever the desktop app is open, it regularly checks for new versions in the background.

  2. No manual configuration or scheduled checking is required.

2. Background download

  1. When a new version is released, the desktop app downloads the update files silently.

  2. You can continue recording meetings and chatting with agents without any slowdown or interruption.

3. Applying the update

  1. Once the download completes, the app prepares the update for installation.

  2. A gentle notification prompts you that a new update is ready.

  3. Click Restart to update, or simply quit and reopen Swiftask when convenient.

  4. The application launches with the latest version applied.

Practical use cases

Continuous meeting intelligence upgrades

Your team automatically receives enhanced transcription engines and bug fixes without requiring IT intervention on every employee machine.

Uninterrupted workday workflows

You join scheduled client meetings without being blocked by disruptive update wizards during critical hours.

Tips & best practices

  • Restart Swiftask periodically at the end of your workday to ensure pending background updates are applied.

  • Avoid forcefully killing the desktop app process during a restart cycle to prevent partial file writes.

  • Check your application version periodically in the desktop app settings or About menu.

Troubleshooting

App does not update after restarting

  • Cause: Restricted system write permissions or an antivirus utility locking temporary update folders.

  • Fix: Run the application with administrator privileges, or manually download the latest installer from swiftask.ai/fr-fr/ai-app-multi-device and run it.

Update download stalls

  • Cause: Network interruption or firewall blocking download servers.

  • Fix: Verify your internet connection, temporarily disable strict network proxies, and restart the app to retry the background download.
